The Kevin M. Eidt Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Kevin, an Honors Program computer science major in the Boston College Carroll School of Management class of '00, who died of cardiac arrest during an intramural basketball game in his freshman year. The Fund will apply 100% of the proceeds from this event to scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year, and in particular to the Boston College scholarship. Since its inception, 99.6% of donations received have been used for scholarship awards.

Although destined to have only one semester at BC, Kevin was able to make a significant impact on campus. He was posthumously awarded the Nicholas H. Woods Leadership award sponsored by the Office of Student Development. The Liturgy Arts Group dedicated their "I Want To Praise Your Name" CD in his memory. In addition, the Student Activities department has named the annual men and women's intramural basketball trophy in Kevin's name.

Since its inception in 1997 the Fund has awarded $770,000 in scholarships to 61 young men and women attending Amherst, Boston College, Bentley, Bucknell, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Connecticut, Georgetown, Harvard, Holy Cross, Johns Hopkins, Michigan, Notre Dame, William & Mary, and Wisconsin. One of the scholarships in Kevin's name is at Boston College and is awarded to the most outstanding junior in the CSOM Honors Program. During 2007, Kevin’s Fund received two additional honors. March 24, 2007 was proclaimed Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship Fund day in Norwalk Connecticut and on May 31, 2007 Norwalk High School named their Honor Society the Kevin M. Eidt Chapter of the National Honor Society. Previously, the youth room at Kevin’s church in Norwalk was dedicated in his memory.
